DIY: Shred and Destroy!

So I recently posted this on Instagram:
I somehow got this idea from seeing someone's tights ladder (that's soo annoying) and I thought, how cool would it look on a shirt? Making this is also very therapeutic and was fun to do whilst watching tv.

Also how can I post something tagged #diy without putting up a tutorial?!

Here we go.

You'll need a shirt with lightweight fabric and scissors.

You'll need to un-hem the shirt or just cut the bottom off so that the raw edge is showing.
If you start pulling on the fabric where it frays then we can get started. What is basically being done here is unravelling the fabric.
Keep going until you get the desired effect. If you don't want to start from the bottom of the shirt, you could always just stab the shirt in random places and start unravelling from there. Always start from the bottom up and just keep pulling and unravelling. I must warn you that it will not be perfect and there will be holes but hey, that's the whole point.

Have fun destroying!

Style Investigation: Eva Mendes

Style Crush: Marion Cotillard

Its been a while since we did a style crush sooooo....today I post one >.<

Marion Cotillard red carpet style is nothing short of show stopping. From dazzling dresses to simple silhouettes she always has a fantastic red carpet look that never fails to impress. I love how she keeps her accessories simple and sweet. In 2009 the french actress was chosen to be the face of Dior's 'Lady Dior'  advertising campaign and in July 2010 she appeared on the cover of Vogue.
My favorite look of hers is the vintage look by Dior from the London premier of the 'Dark Night Rises'. I love the combination of the bright yellow, green and red. Plus the belt just ties the whole look together. AHHH I just love it.

Rimmel Haul!

Happy Easter everyone! Here's a little treat for you beautiful people, I got my hands on the latest Rimmel treats: Lash Accelerator Mascara, Apocalips Lip Lacquer and Wake Me Up Foundation!

I have to say this has been my favourite Rimmel haul in a while. Reviews are down below:

First off APOCALIPS!
I actually love this soo much. I think I might get a few more shades because this is a fairly subtle shade, maybe next time I'll buy one that makes my lips pop. The shade I am currently wearing is "Celestial". I must admit I wasn't too excited when I heard about this but after reading a few reviews I had to get my hands on it. The colours in the range aren't for the faint hearted but they really do make your lips look out of this world! The finish is very nice as well and lasts for quite a while. Do put a lip balm first or else it will look flaky and unattractive.

Now to the Lash Accelerator!
Rimmel's Scandaleyes slightly disappointed me so I was a bit on edge when choosing between another Apocalips colour or to try out Rimmel's new mascara. I have to say that I do like this mascara. It's probably one of those that I will use on a day to day basis because as a friend said, it looked very natural and does what it says on the tin, lengthen my lashes.

From left to right: Without mascara, with mascara front view and with mascara side view.

And finally, Wake Me Up foundation!
I have a confession to make... this is the first time I've ever bought or used a foundation, so I'm a noob when it comes to foundation ok. As a BB cream addict, my mother thought this foundation would be a great start. It's light, easy to apply (though I wish it was packaged with a pump, it has a sort of stick that picks up the foundation) and the finish isn't too bad and leaves my skin looking dewy (yay).
I have fairly dry skin and what I like about this is that it keeps my skin feeling moisturised without making my skin oily. Again, I think I'll be using this quite often.

UPDATE: Turns out there is a pump on the Wake Me Up foundation bottle... I just broke it when I first opened it ;-;

OOTD: GO AWAY, WINTER!

I think we can all agree that we want Spring to hurry its bum bum up! As Rianna pointed out a few days ago, the cold isn't the problem, its the timing. I mean come on, its almost the end of March! So today's outfit involves lots of layering. Which I detest. But here we go.

Clearly, I was having a bit too much fun swinging my satchel around today.

F.A.D: Judgement Day

We've been on this journey for 11 weeks now and now its come to an end. Well not the end if we get through to the next stage of this course (fingers crossed). I'm glad we actually finished our garment toiles without any mishaps and they actually look great. Mine would look better if I could put the drawstring on but that took forever and I wanted to present at the same time as Rianna.

The judges were lovely and friendly, I think its the conscious thought that this was a competition that scared us a bit and made us stumble with our words.
We'd like to thank everyone at F.A.D for helping us learn, develop and grow so quickly in these 11 weeks. We've never been more determined to get into the fashion industry until now.
Special shout out to Jenny for being our rock during our making and for teaching us the ways of being a master at pattern cutting.

For anyone planning to take this course next year, DO IT! It's a lot of hard work but it is so worth it!
