Style Crush: Emma Watson

If there is anyone who knows how to do the casual London style to a T is the the wonderful Miss Emma Watson. She has been out and about lately to promote her new movie 'Perks of Being a Wallflower' and I must say I love what she has been wearing. She has this cool laid back style that has a hint of the London boy  look. She can turn head on the street but she can look amazing on the red carpet too. She looked flawless at  'Perks of Being a Wallflower'gala all dressed in Dior with shoes but Boucheron and at the Premier in a beautiful Armani dress. She is the cover girl for Glamour magazine this month and has recently has been on the cover of Nylon magazine. But it isn't just recently she has been a fashion Guru. She has been  in the Burberry ad campaign, the face of LancĂ´me make-up and was on the cover of Vogue US in 2011. And those are only to name a few.

Boutique Fix: The Elite Fashion Club

This cute unique online fashion boutique has all the charisma of a vintage shop. The jewellery in this boutique have a cool edge. They have this rusty look which gives them a bold statement. The pieces of jewellery on this boutique can go with any style. What makes it even more great that they are based in Australia but they ship world wide.

If you like these pieces go visit there site where they have lots more at http://theelitefashionclub.storenvy.com/

Out and about: Greenwich.

We tried to do Street Snaps today, swear on our hearts but every time we visit a new area of London we just get distracted by all the pretty things.

Except this time we got distracted by paella and churros....and more food...
Below are our pictures of our day:

This guy sells airbrush tees, find him on www.ankh-and-witty.com
It was also really cool to watch him work.
Having churros and a Japanese bento stall in one place is just heaven.

Paella for lunch!

Our necklaces are cool so stfu.

I bought a tee and a hair bow for school as well as the Twiggy necklace.
One thing I have to say is that the shirt is "free size" and looks like a dress...

GCSE Textiles, anyone?

If you've just started GCSE Textiles or are in your second year of it, we have a few tips for you from our own personal experiences:

  •  Don't leave everything at the last minute! - Doing everything at the last minute for any subject is a bad habit to get into, so don't do that for Textiles either! In fact, any D&T subject because it takes quite a lot of time to do. Trust us, we've been up until 2am doing our textiles coursework and we still have the eyebags to show it.
  • Don't leave empty spaces! Make sure your moodboards are fit to burst with images, make sure your evaluation pages are full with images and lots of writing (or what we say, bullshit, there's no right or wrong answer as long as you justify what you say when evaluating) and make sure your designs fill the whole page of A3. Don't be a wuss and make your drawings dainty and invisible, make sure the examiner can see it.
  • Take pictures of everything! - Why? I hear you ask, because you'll need it to show the blood sweat and tears that went into creating your garment. Instead of using words to explain everything you've done, you could just stick in a picture, write a measly paragraph instead of an essay and bob's your uncle.
  • Have enough time! - From what I remember, once we started making, everyone went into panic mode. Remember you have about 6-8 weeks to make your garment, make sure you ask your teacher at every stage what you should do next or else you'll spend your lessons unpicking your stitches and you don't want to be doing that!
  • Don't have extremely tight stitching! - Ok this made us suffer quite a lot, the reason we say this is because if you do ever make a mistake, you won't be able to unpick all those extremely secure and tight stitches. Due to frustration, we actually cut our fabric by accident :-/
  • Write write write! - Write an introduction and a conclusion for each page except the moodboard. It can even be just two sentences each! Also remember to evaluate everything, every design, every construction and decoration technique to the quality of your finished garment.
  • Beware of the overlocker! - Back in the beginning of our textiles journey, we were very afraid of the overlocker, our tip to you is don't press the foot pedal so hard! It's as simple as that. Just overlock the edges of your garment in a controlled manner and then you'll end up becoming best friends with it, like we have. Seriously, without the overlocker our garments would've just disintegrated into thread.

Last but not least HAVE FUN! If we didn't have fun, why do you think we're taking it for A-Level?

Style Crush: Lana Del Rey

Despite my mixed feelings about her music I cannot deny how much I love how Lana Del Rey dresses. Once slated off as the "Queen of Hipsters" ( I don't get that, leave that to Zooey Deschanel) I find her to be more on the retro edge.

In July, H&M stated that Lana Del Rey will be the face of their autumn collection, and the collection has me warmed up and ready to welcome autumn because the jumpers are cuuuutttteee. Check out the advert for H&M's autumn campaign and you'll be seeing a lot of her in a bus stop near you.

Watch out though, the tweed dress and the drop pearl earrings are already sold out.

Lana has also been crowned as "Woman of the Year" by GQ and was featured nude on the British edition of the issue. Mulberry has also named a bag after her which has been showcased at London Fashion Week on Tuesday. Lately Lana has been everyone's muse.

Love or Loathe: Pyjama Suits

Melissa:  This is just probably the most ridiculous "fashion trend" I have seen. I can understand printed jumpsuits, but please if you are wearing an ensemble just like this then please go back home and change.I don't mind printed pants or printed shirts, just don't wear them together. Just look at this picture of Rihanna, that suit ain't kawaii. The fact that printed suits are trying to make a comeback just irks me.

Rianna: For me this trend is all about the right pattern. If you have the right print the the outfit can really make a stand. However if it the wrong type of print then it just looks like you literally choose your P.J's from the clothes draw and that never looks cool. The Stella McCartney look on the bottom right I can vibe with, I love the bandanna inspired print. Defiantly something I would wear.

Comment and tell us if you Love or Loathe.

Perks of being in Sixth Form

Here's a picture of my lovely, uncomfortable looking, friend Laura who I saw today with a fabulous necklace from Accesorize! The piece is absolutely gorgeous as it features lots of clock faces all interlinked to make this necklace. Getting to wear statement jewellery is probably one favourite perk of sixth form of ours as well as the free lessons.
